about
Dear Patrick,
Thank you for your inspiration. I did the writing, playing, singing, recording, and editing but you brought it all together.
I wrote, played, sang, recorded, and edited because you drove all the way out to the duplex those numerous times to allow me to hear you speak my mind. As you yelled or talked into the microphone when we were goofing around with some weird chord structure
or while sitting on the porch talking nonsense I got the feeling that maybe I wasn't completely alone in my ideas.
I thought I might be betraying you when I left to record this album alone. Using what you had helped me write and claiming that I created it solo made me feel like a liar. However, I urged myself to trust the pull to go.
Upon my return, I was excessively nervous. Would you be upset that I didn't give you credit for words that were clearly yours?
Your reaction helped me to better understand that the product of art isn't as important as the process and that you in no way felt alienated from that process.
Now, we've formed a band! No matter what happens---it is what it is. I'm so thankful that you exist!
